Accomplishments

As Councillor for Bracebridge Ward 1 (2022-2026) I have:

• Met with and listened to constituents taking issues forward on their behalf with Town staff for a resolution.
  
  
• Provided input to the Official Plan Amendment (OPA) No. 18 in regards to Flood Zones and development.
  
  
• Advocated for secure funding for the Bracebridge Active Living Centre to support their programs.
  
  
• Advocated for the outdoor skating trail to remain operational at Memorial Park.
  
  
• Participated and contributed in public forums for the new Bracebridge Hospital advocating for building community capacity for alternate levels of care, support for the creation of local Health Hubs and direct funding for in-home supports to eliminate the need for longer stays in the hospital when care could be provided at home.
  
  
• Supported the Bracebridge Farmers Market during reconstruction of the Memorial Park Bandshell. 
  
  
• As chair of the Public Arts Advisory Committee along with committee members, provided support, guidance and strategic recommendations to Council for art installations for downtown Bracebridge and the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre. 
  
  
• Support for the electrification of our Town’s transportation fleet and for the hiring of an Environmental Initiative Coordinator for the Town later this year to guide us on reducing green house gas emissions by 50% by 2030.
  
  
• Called for the protection of the North Muskoka River Canyon Heritage Site with controls on shoreline development.
  
  
• Supported the re-development of the former arena site for two mixed-use apartment buildings offering affordable and market rate rentals units with the potential of housing up to 250 tenants.
  
  
• Informed and communicated with the community through my social media channel of upcoming events, emergency notices from the town’s website and articles of interest.
  
  
• Promoted “shop local” messages on my social media channels and volunteered for the Fire & Ice Festival and Canada Day celebrations.
  
  
• Supported local former residents of Huronia Regional Centre in collaboration with the YWCA Muskoka and Wilfrid Laurier University with a future publication of their book.
  
  
• Co-chaired the planning committee to celebrate the PBY-5A Canso cross country tour to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the RCAF during Canada Day at the Muskoka Airport in 2023.
